Motis Chamorro Quintet & Scott Hamilton recording a new album at Jamboree

Having recorded Live at Jamboree in April 2013, Andrea Motis & Joan Chamorro Quintet will meet again with Scott Hamilton at the legendary venue on Plaça Reial to record a new double live album, this time during 12 concerts on the Grec festival, from 8th to 13th July.

This week there is a very special event in Barcelona as the Motis Chamorro Quintet will be playing again with veteran jazzman Scott Hamilton, the internationally acclaimed tenor saxophonist who returns to town for a double live album recording with the quintet.

From tuesday 8th to sunday 13th the Jamboree will be again the place where an important page in catalan jazz history and beyond is being written. Over 12 concerts (two each day, at 20:00 and 22:00) musicians will fill the space with the notes of Alone together, But not for me, Don’t cha go, Bésame mucho, East of the sun, Gee baby, Gloomy sunday, I didn’t know what it was, Jim, Just Friends, La Javanesa, Manha de carnaval, Mean to me, My favorite things, Never will i marry, Old country, Poor butterfly, Softly , The girl from Ipanema, Viena, Tenderly, Carinhoso, Don’t explain, Body and soul, Flor de lis and more.

Rita Payés, voice and trombone, a special guest

The quintet musicians (Ignasi Terraza, Josep Traver and Esteve Pi, with Andrea Motis and Joan Chamorro) will be joined, in addition to Scott Hamilton, by young Rita Payés (from thursday to sunday) who is a singer and trombone player. She will be the voice of How long has been this going on, Star fell on Alabama, Sister Kate, I can’t get started, Desafinado, Moanin, My melancholy baby, Watch what happens, West coast blues, and others.
