The American critic and journalist Marc Myers, who regularly writes in the Wall Street Journal and is a specialist about jazz, visited the International Jazz Festival of Barcelona and posted on his blog his impressions about Sant Andreu Jazz Band and Andrea Motis:
[ ... ] Fortunately, I was able to stick the end of a performance of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, led by Joan Chamorro. It consists of boys and girls students in Barcelona. It’s not a high school but a band formed by young musicians who love music. Joan is a saxophonist and bass that motivates children and inspires them to work hard and build their passion for swing and the American songbook.
Towards the end of the concert, Andrea continued to play. Motis is a young singer-trumpeter with enormous charisma and seductive voice.
Yesterday, in his lecture on the history of jazz, as part of the Festival, in the final round of questions, Myers said that in the current context of jazz trumpeter Andrea was the one he liked most, precisely because of the emotions she conveys thrugh her music.
And we are also so glad !
