Lua Amarela, Rita Payés’ latest album
It has been almost two years from the Enderrock prize which recognized the album Joan Chamorro presenta Rita Payés as the best jazz project of that moment. And this second album just validates that, at the same time that shows how it has been evolving.
Rita Payés is magic, sweetness, sensibility, character; she is pure energy, talent constantly evolving. At 16, she has just started to tell us wonderful things.
–Joan Chamorro
On 30 October Joan Chamorro Reunion & Rita Payés presented, in concert, the album Lua Amarela, the second one from this young singer and trombonist from Sant Andreu Jazz Band.
In this new CD, produced by Jazz to Jazz, Rita Payés alternates jazz standards with bossanova, samba, a portuguese fado and the beautiful Cançó de bres per a una princesa negra (Catalan song from Antoni Rodríguez Sabanés).
She is accompanied by Joan Chamorro Quintet, and with Enrique Oliver (tenor sax), Elisabeth Roma (guitar) and Jaume Llombart (guitar) as guest musicians.
As always, you can choose if you prefer the album Lua Amarela in CD or as a digital lossless download (that is, same quality as the master).
Love your music.
Thank you so much, Ernie
cant stop watching and listening, please keep it up you are great
Been following Rita,Andrea,Eva & Magali since first experiencing Joan Chamorro’s recordings a few years ago. It’s unbelievable what he has accomplished with these youngsters..bringing them together with veteran jazz performers like Scott Hamilton,Dick Oatts & others..Ignassi,Josep,Esteve et all are masters..Rita is evolving..I love her singing & her playing; a major talent in the making & Andrea is off the charts! I have about a half dozen of these recordings & play pieces on my jazz shows that I have done (radio)…will be playing pieces from Rita’s newest Lua Amarela…Joan, keep it coming..you are a genius…puts us here to shame in the U.S. such joy to watch on YuoTube and to listen to. also love Rita’s version of “Gloomy Sunday”….great jazz..the best! I’d love to hear back from any of the above..if not, that’s OK too….I’m a HUGE fan & in my small way making folks aware of these great artists; the youngsters & the veteran jazz people like Ignasi (the maestro)…….
Frank, I like you have been following this phenomenon for several years and I have to tell you I’m hooked…am an experienced jazz bassist..and its funny…seems like St. Andrew is my choice to get my jazz fix….Joan’s interaction with the girls and students is special…they absolutely love him…Love Rita, Andrea, Alba and all……Alba is tough to beat on the Brazilian and swing pieces…great trumpet player….tone, technique strong….I could babble about them forever it seems…also Carla is a real meat and potatoes jazz guitarist….her tone is superb and her melodic ideas are big league…she seems so understated and humble…all these kids have poise…it does my heart good to see youngsters doing what it took me years to learn correctly…and almost at a world class level….
Flor de lis is just spectacular! I have listened to it dozens and dozens and dozens of times! I love Ignasi’s solo – so organic, exciting, and joyful— developing layers, growing structure and a very satisfying denouement and resolution! ! Bravissimo e grazie mille! ! !
But – having said that, Rita killed her solo! She kicked ass! I love her singing and her jazz style and her ‘bone playing. This is her best solo that I have heard. I loved it and I am so glad to have this opportunity to tell her.
Great licks and energy and building layers- WOW! Bravissimo e grazie Mille! ! ! I have been listening and following, and loving St Andreu for years. I so highly admire and appreciate you all and I am so glad to watch everyone grow and develop— it is a real privilege. Mega thanks, Joan !
Love and Best Wishes, Floyd Hebert.
