The Quiet Trumpet is Andrea Motis.
And it is also the title of Ramon Tort’s latest documentary project:
[…] An intimate story of personal growth full of emotions, doubts, fears, contradictions and jazz, a lot of jazz.
The director of the inspiring A Story About Kids & Music, about the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, has been following in the footsteps of Andrea Motis for the past two and a half years, across stages around the world.
With his camera, he has witnessed the musical and human evolution of the artist.
And it is through this quality, precisely, that he tells us “who is Andrea Motis”:
We will now focus on an innocent, humble, tender, redeeming gaze that mesmerizes and is able to spread enthusiasm and seduce without using eccentricity and excess, without being a prototype or formula, from the simplicity and communicative power of a subtle trumpet sound and a voice that, without being virtuous, excites.
I intend to transfer this story of contrasts, of low revolutions and electrifying scenes, lived from a mysterious serenity, almost improper… Contagious this same innocence, naturalness, tenderness, humanity, humility… that has seduced me.
